English Communication Courses

Learning to speak means learning to communicate. To communicate you need to be able to get other people to understand what you mean. This is why we base all of our learning on real life, not on text books. When you are in a situation where you feel the need to communicate, you will be able to remember the correct words and the correct grammar very easily once you find out what they are.

In the first example below both people are thinking the same thing because the word has the same menaing or creates the same image for both people. If they can make each other understand what they are thinking effectively then this is communication. We use words to make the image that we are thinking the same for the person who is listening to us. In the second example communication isn't happening because the girl is not using the right words to describe what she wants to describe

Communication training

What the example above means for learners of English as a second language is that you need to not only learn new vocabulary and grammar, you need to understand the nuances of what you are saying. By learning only with a text book, you can memorize new words and grammar, but you can't check that what you are actually saying is what you intend to day.

Through experience we gradually learn how what we say is understood by others, at KIWI@HOME we make this process much faster.

Communication is not just speaking class, it is not just free talking, it is structured and planned, through enquiry based learning to help you achieve accurate communication faster.

Why does enquiry based learning help you to communicate properly in English?

There is a big difference between learning through a text book with vocabulary and grammar that you teacher gives you than discovering and exploring the new language your self. The benefits of guided enquiry learning and self discovery are well documented, the results are effective and smooth communication.

The structure of our learning system has several aspects to it that all work together to allow students to improve the fastest way possible for the least time and money possible. All the aspects are interrelated and are part of the course. Enquiry learning means that the level of language that you are currently learning is always the most appropriate for you. because you are bringing material to class that you don't understand, time is spent effectively and you don't need to spend time on this that you already know.

What is different to other English conversation or communication courses

Real life factors are combined to form your specific study pathway. Every student is different and has different learning needs, so success depends on a combination of factors and there are no shortcuts. There are many ways to waste your time and money though, so by reducing the amount of time spent doing activities with no learning value, students are able to progress at their maximum potential pace.

  1. During your non-contact study time (times when you are not in class) you are finding things from real life situations and practicing the new language you have learnt in real life situations also. By interacting in real life you learn the exact language you need for yourself.
  2. Every class is structured to help you reach your own personal goals. There is no averaged learning that has to cater for the average goal of the class or what the teacher feels you might want to learn. You are able to reach your goals quickly because you spend 100% of your time on study to reach your goal.
  3. Efficiency. Research and data shows that our learning system is up to 3 times faster that Common European Framework (CEF) standards for language learning. Informal sampling of both ESL teachers and students reveals that the CEF standards are between 3 and 5 times faster than is usually experienced in English language schools. This means that students studying with us can potentially improve their English up to 8 times faster than at standard language schools!
  4. You will remember! Because you always learn what you have a need to learn, and what you have experienced the need for first, you will remember things much faster. When you learn from action and experience, you remember the information much more easily.

Real life, real results, really efficient, really easy to remember, really low cost, really fast
